LET'S GROW AND PROJECT AFRICA

Posted on with No comments

Let’s fight for Africa and preserve the uniqueness or our heritage and culture. Other continents are known for what makes them unique. Let Africa be known for its uniqueness and not for being a culture copycat.
Taking a look at all the countries in Africa, it is evident that Africa is blessed with natural resources, great minds and hardworking people. However, some African’s are still under the illusion of greener pastures out of Africa and it would not be strange to see a master’s degree holder working as a security guard in Dubai.
Let’s continue to be true to ourselves and let people love us for who we really are.
Now a day, some indigenes of Africa go to eat at restaurants and have no idea of the food they just ordered because the names do not sound familiar. Let us continue to call fried potato by its name instead of confusing people with names such as French fries. Better still; let’s call it Cameroon fries, Ghanaian fries, Kenyan fries or African fries because it was fried in Africa and not in France.
Looking at creativity, we have great musicians, actors, actresses, painters, designers….. but we as Africans sometimes fail to promote our own. Some of us are fond of praising foreign artist and insulting African artist.
Taking a look at immigration, we have some Africans who have given up on life, because they were denied a visa to go to Europe, USA, Canada or Australia. It is also sad to see youths die in the sea or do funny things to get a green card, or enter a foreign land.  Success is found in us, and not necessarily in a country.  Furthermore, there is a massive exodus of youths out of Africa to other countries that took time to develop themselves such as India, China and Dubai. If we take time to invest in develop our continent, we would also attract youths from other countries as well.
Let Africans at home and abroad invest in Africa even if they do not live to see the fruits of their labor, for the great nations we see today were not built in a day. Let us also promote our own and believe in ourselves.
We should have love for our continent, copy what will bring development to our continent while upholding its moral values and diversified culture for that is what makes us unique and proud as Africans. God bless Africa.

CYCLE OF DEEDS

Posted on with No comments

I have always loved the story of Winston Churchill and Fleming. Once upon a time, this poor farmer was off to his farms when he came across a drowning boy. Swiftly he jumped in and saved his life. Days later; the farmer had an unfamiliar visitor. This wealthy noble had come to thank the farmer for saving his son’s life. While the noble talked to the farmer, he noticed a boy feeding the hens.

“Is that your son?” the noble asked.

“Yes sir, that is my son,” the farmer replied.

“A boy like that should be in school.” the noble said.

So the noble decided he was going to send the farmer’s boy to school alongside his own son. Years passed and the two boys became great men who left their names in history. Winston Churchill the noble’s son became prime minister. Years into his Adult life, he fell very ill and was dying. It was then his friend Alexander Fleming (the farmer’s son educated by Winston Churchill’s Dad) discovered the miracle pill(penicillin) which saved Churchill’s life. Alexander Fleming left his name in the books of time.

Life is like a machine. It keeps recycling the things we do. If we put evil into it, it will be recycled and multiplied. If we put good in it, it will be recycled and multiply. All we do in this world sets up a chain of events we sometimes do not realize. The abused child, who abuses and grows a kid who later abuses other kids. There is a cycle of good which can be interrupted by evil and there is a cycle of evil which can be interrupted by good.

As we live our lives, we should be conscious of the chain of events our actions will create. If you are a victim caught up in a cycle of evil, you have the power to break that cycle by doing the reverse. Do not recycle evil. Sometimes we have to let go and forgive whatever wrong was done to us so that evil is not recycled. Be a contributor to the cycle of good…Lets spread our hands across the world with little humane acts which go a long way…

Feed the good inside of you!

God Bless!

Stay You!

WHAT IS IMPORTANT?

Posted on with No comments
What is important to you? What takes priority in your life? These are questions we should ask ourselves every step of the way. I strongly believe the problems in marriages, institutions and the world as a whole is that we as humans have forgotten what is important. As a person, a parent, a leader we are always faced with the challenge of deciding what is important. Most times we will even have to go far as sacrificing our comforts, ego and dogmas to stand up for what is important. You will ask ‘Isn’t importance subjective?’ Of course it is. However subjective it may be, just as every normal human is in build with the knowledge of good and evil, so are we empowered with the ability to make good judgment and right choices.

Is sabotaging an idea to prove you were right more important than working for the greater common good? Is making you kids do just what you want them to do more important than supporting them down the road to discovering their own abilities? Is attacking another culture to feel superior or victimized more important than working to rid society of evil irrespective of what color, tribe or nation it has? Think about it. We have to go back to what is important. In Cameroon, several people have been left homeless because their buildings were condemned and destroyed. There are flooded roads in Bamenda hindering business and farming. Youths are jobless, it is a cry for help. We seem to be moving backward instead of forward. I ask my leaders bitterly what is important; Your bank account or the good of the people. I ask my people what is important.

As Cameroonians, where do we go from here? Yes government has failed us. Is laying back and talking about what’s wrong more important than finding what is right? A government I believe is not the office buildings and suited individuals in them. A government is a people, formed by people standing for a people. I strongly believe a time comes that a people rally together in brotherhood to seek for their interests when a greedy and corrupt government fails them. What is important in this era for us as a people is brotherhood. We have to go back to the community level. Communities have to rally up to create schools, hospitals and business enterprises for themselves. As university students, you ought not to just acquire knowledge in your field of expertise but strive towards independent thinking. Graduates should bring their great minds together to start of future enterprises. Small businesses should work together to get to the next level. At the end of the day; when our leaders forget what is important, we as a people will realize what is important and keep fighting for it. A wise woman once said the little we each do is like tiny little droplets but all those come together to make an ocean. If we do not stand together as a people, we would all suffer together as fools. WHAT IS IMPORTANT…when we figure that out, we stand for it!

God Bless you!

Stay you!

ONE UNDER THE SUN

Posted on with No comments

The world is one word,

One place

Held by a single cord

A beautiful fabric,

One of many colors

One race;

It’s called humanity

When the sun

Gazes on the earth,

It sees neither white

Black or brown

But the color of the world

The beauty of nature

And the purity

 Of humanity

The sun knows no color,

The rain no race

The wind whispers to all

Humanity is a beautiful rainbow

In love,

We must embrace

The difference

That yet makes us one
